It was also voted to include this exemption amount for disabled individuals. Homeowners who already qualify for and are receiving the over 65 or disabled person exemption from the school district do NOT need to take any action or complete a new application. City of Greenville now offers 10% Homestead ExemptionBeginning with the 2022 tax year, qualified homeowners in the City of Greenville can receive a homestead exemption on their primary residence. The city has approved a local option homestead exemption of 10% of the homesite value of the property. Homeowners who already qualify for the school district homestead exemption do not need to file a new application for the city exemption. The appraisal district will apply the 10% exemption to the city taxes automatically for those already qualified. New homeowners must make a one-time application to receive the exemption. This benefit puts a ceiling on the dollar amount of property taxes you pay each year to the City of Caddo Mills. This does not freeze the assessed value or the tax rate. If the city taxes decrease, the amount you owe can still decrease.
