Before you reach out to us, check your application status online. This is the fastest way to find outwhat stage your application is at.

Change or update your contact information

• if you’re waiting on your initial permanent resident card
• for all other applications

You can likely update your address online, if you’re in Canada. If you’re outside of Canada, you’ll most likely need to get in touch with the visa office that serves your region.

Add, change or cancel a representative

A representative can be a citizenship or immigration consultant, lawyer, friend or family member, or someone else you know. You don’t need to have a representative to submit or update an application. Make sure you know the steps to add, change or remove a representative.

Ask for urgent processing for your permanent resident card

We only process permanent resident cards on an urgent basis for specific situations. To qualify, you must be travelling within the next 3 months because of:

• a job opportunity
• serious illness (your own or that of a family member)
• a death in the family
• work related to your current job

Before you reach out to us, make sure you’re eligible for urgent processing and find out what you should do.

Withdraw or cancel your application

You can ask to withdraw or cancel your application at any point. If we’ve already started processing your application, you may not get back all of the fees you paid. Find out which fees we may refund if you withdraw your application.
